Business Development Manager - Aerospace / Defense / Government
Duties
and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong industry relationships across the Government community: Defense, Intelligence, Industrial Base, University and commercial organizations
Grow, strengthen and maintain Synopsys relationships amongst the community
Represent Synopsys at industry and Government events, conferences, panels
Provide insight and leadership to help align Synopsys and Government interests, programs and available funding
Energetic thought-leader to help Synopsys grow its Government Programs business
Ability to work across Synopsys organizations to drive, develop, and influence market strategies
Triangulate and push to drive change and influence Partner decision makers
Advise and assist corporate and market specific functions across Marketing, Business Units, and Primes/Ecosystem Partners to develop and position unique system differentiating capabilities
Help Sales teams understand, qualify, and develop differentiated or unique solutions for Primes and to deliver strategic Government Program growth
Develop and grow a deep technical and programmatic Partnership with select government Prime Contractors (Primes)
Architect collaborative partnerships and solutions with Primes
Track account technical needs, both bottoms-up from Synopsys solutions to tops-down from systems-level knowledge of applications
Track account strategies/future interests, and merge with knowledge of government interests and requirements
Build Prime/Partner-centric solutions using Synopsys technologies and strategies
Manage Synopsys-Partner funding opportunities
Seek opportunities for joint funding/technical proposals
Prepare/support preparation of proposals, white papers, and similar
Support collaborative initiatives throughout the Prime's ecosystem
Be a trusted advisor to Primes on Government funded opportunities and Synopsys technologies/strategies/roadmaps
Engage Synopsys' commercial ecosystem to support Partner initiatives
Qualifications
B.S. in Engineering or related field required
M.S., PhD, MBA or other advanced technical or business degrees desired
Minimum 10 years of business development, product or program management, marketing or sales experience in DoD or DIB required; prior military or IC experience desired
Demonstrated ability to quickly build rapport required
DoD systems / applications knowledge desired
Ideal candidate will be located in or have easy access to Boston, DC, and/or Florida
Ability to travel up to 1/3 of the time across North America
Must be a U.S. citizen
Active Security Clearance is highly desired
Skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills that can be applied to multiple audiences (technical, financial, executive), including the ability to translate complex, technical information for briefings to non-technical persons
Direct working experience with microelectronics in end-user system applications, including with SoC architectures, manufacturing, and the EDA or IP industry
Proficient in office productivity software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
Competencies
Proven ability to create high performance, collaborative teams within a company and across an ecosystem of partners, suppliers, and customers
Proven ability to develop successful relationships between partners by understanding each organization's capabilities and interests to create new partnership opportunities
Proven ability to think outside the box in new, creative ways to problem solve and find new ways to build and grow collaborative opportunities between organizations
Relationships
The position will require working relationships with Synopsys senior leadership (up to C-suite), Product Management and Engineering in Business Units and Marketing.
This position will report into Director Business Development, Aerospace & Defense, Strategic Accounts and work closely with global business development, marketing, and sales teams.
