Job Description:
The Apprenticeship Development Manager is a highly motivated self-starter who works closely with the Director of Apprenticeship to implement the apprenticeship business engagement process, and exhibits strong knowledge of the apprenticeship program model and the employer's role. Once trained in the best practices and the business development process, the apprenticeship development manager researches, identifies and contacts targeted employers with the goal of recruiting them to become employer sponsors. The apprenticeship development manager develops a deep understanding of the educational campaign in order to bring awareness to the employers of the details and benefits of the apprenticeship program and successfully drives employer participation to meet revenue and program goals.
WORK PERFORMED
Actively initiates and develops new relationships with businesses by implementing the apprenticeship business engagement process.
Establishes and maintains high-quality, trusting client relationships and tracks these using the college's CRM and other databases.
Utilizes proven sales strategies; such as frequent customer contact, negotiating and closing employer agreements, ultimately resulting in revenue generating contracts for apprenticeship.
Researches businesses and organizations to identify and assess qualified leads and prospects for each apprenticeship occupation.
Responds knowledgeably, timely and persuasively to assigned referrals, prospective inquiries and other leads.
Meets with prospective apprenticeship employers to provide thorough and complete information regarding the benefits, requirements, educational programs, and the agreement process.
Maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions in apprenticeship- related industries.
Encourages employers in a variety of industries to participate in apprenticeship focus groups and advisory groups.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in sales and marketing, business management, marketing, or closely related field required, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Master's degree preferred.
A minimum of five years of experience in sales or marketing or equivalent experience, preferably within higher education.
A minimum of five years of experience in developing relationships and partnerships among businesses and organizations.
Demonstrated track record of securing contracts that generate revenue through consultative selling techniques.
Strong problem-solving, engaging presentation skills, project and priority management and negotiating skills.
Basic knowledge of computer technology and software; experience with CRM preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to work well with diverse populations of business/community leaders, students, faculty, and staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong public speaking ability.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing making presentations.
Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.
Additional Information:
This is a temporary, part time, grant funded position for a 12-month project.
Hours Per Week: 20
Work Schedule: Flexible Work Schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week
Compensation: $45/hr
Grade: Hourly/Temporary
