Job Title: Development Coordinator: Annual Fund, Social Media, & Events
Reports to: Chief Development Officer
Supervises: Graphic Design & Website Specialist
Days/Hours: General office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm. This position requires employee to have scheduling flexibility as evening and weekend work is occasionally needed to support the team and meet the needs of this agency.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree in a field such as English, Communications or Marketing preferred.
Minimum of two years’ experience in sales, customer service or, preferably Development/Fundraising.
Exceptionally strong verbal, written, and spoken communication skills.
Must possess a mature understanding of Development best practices.
Must work well in a very fast-paced team environment.
This position involves periods of evening and weekend work; this work often involves physically demanding work (i.e., setting up for events).
Must be an intentional and proactive communicator who is passionate about supporting Women In Distress’ mission to
end domestic violence and abuse for everyone through education, intervention, and advocacy
Valid Florida driver’s license. Safe/Acceptable driving history. Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance.
Salary Range: $40,000 - 50,000 per year
Workplace Location(s):
The Development Coordinator works primarily from the central administrative offices of Women In Distress located in Deerfield Beach, Florida. While this position may at times work remotely, doing so would be episodic and not the primary mode of employment.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer, the Development Coordinator works closely with the Development Team in planning, organizing, and conducting efforts related to annual fund initiatives (direct mail, donations drives, etc.), events (three major annual fundraising events and other, smaller, events) and social media. The Development Coordinator also completes administrative tasks within the Development department.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for overseeing current annual fund activities and implementing a strategic plan for annual fund growth.
Serves as primary point person for annual events including:
Annual Golf Tournament (fall)
Silent and Live Auction coordination
Update of Auction List
Track Sponsorship Deliverables
Program, e-journal, script creation
Assemble event gift bags
Attend committee meetings
Oversee the planning and final execution of logistics for tournament
Women’s Empowerment Forum (Winter)
Provide content and graphics direction for the Forum
Assist with speaker identification and coordination.
Event Logistics
Investigating and planning event venue and layout
Vendor communication and contracts
Sponsorship deliverables
Starfish Luncheon (spring)
Provide content and graphics direction for an event announcement or invitation to past Starfish attendees.
Attend pre event meetings with WID staff and with contractors

Participant Interview/video coordination and script
Assemble and distribute honoree bios
Pre-event publicity

Is responsible for, and actively involved in, securing sponsorships for events and various initiatives throughout the year.
Continually collects silent auction/raffle donations from individuals and businesses.
Serves as primary coordinator for annual donation drives including:
Back to School
Thanksgiving
Holiday
Mother’s Day
Responsible for Development communications including:
Development and execution of a social media strategy
Periodic constituent updates from WID/CEO
Periodic newsletter to WID stakeholders
Meets monthly and annual goals for incremental increases in both the number of donors and cumulative amount of donations secured.
Work as part of a dynamic Development team, accepting regular assignments as needed even when not specifically delineated in this job description.
Complete administrative tasks associated with the Office of Development such as answering incoming calls and emails, fulfilling requests for information, scheduling appointments, etc.
Facilitate optimal utilization of volunteers in the Development area.
Additional requirements: Employee will be required to take the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Core Competency training and obtain a passing grade of 75% or higher.
