Overview
The Marketing and Business Development Manager, under the direction of the Executive Director, Managing Shareholder, and Marketing Department Shareholder shall have responsibility for the Firm's Marketing and Business Development functions, including creating content for presentations, proposals, and pitch materials. The ideal candidate must be reliable, organized, and personable, a strong business acumen and solid managerial skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director, Managing Shareholder, and Marketing Department Shareholder to achieve the Firm’s strategic goals and objectives, including marketing programs, requests for proposals and practice development.
The Marketing and Business Development Manager must possess the following attributes to be successful in the position and provide the level of expertise needed to ensure the successful operation of the Firm’s marketing department.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative support and guidance in all areas of marketing, public relations, and client service.
Responsible for the technical and/or creative functions of marketing, such as maintaining and developing the Firm's website, social media, directories and designing advertising materials and other electronic communications.
Manage the Firm’s client contact data, overseeing the Firm’s CRM software and blog subscriptions.
Assist attorneys in research and development of strategies and marketing plans to develop new clients, relationships, and practice areas.
Plan, organize, manage, and host marketing events. Manage all aspects of marketing events including concept, budget, and agenda development, drafting invitation language, sending and tracking invitations and RSVPs, as well as measuring ROI and client feedback. Work with attorneys to identify key leads pre-event and serve as an accountability resource for post-event follow-up.
Work with practice group leaders to develop marketing and business development plans. Monitor and report progress on the plans against defined metrics.
Coordinate responses to practice rankings and submissions. Manage external and internal communications, including client updates, blogs, practice-specific campaigns, and newsletters. Work with the PR team for earned media opportunities.
Participate in/advise on the Firm’s diversity/inclusion, community service and wellness efforts.
Manage the Firm’s Marketing Assistant; Oversee workload and mentor for professional development.
Embody the esteemed reputation of the Firm and uphold professional standards for the department and Marketing Assistant.
Candidate Qualifications
Must operate comfortably across a broad spectrum of responsibilities including hands-on work experience relating to: marketing and business development as normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, or equivalent experience; MBA preferred;
1 - 3 years marketing experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services organization with demonstrated ability to lead marketing initiatives;
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to provide clear, precise, and well-substantiated explanations of marketing events and trends;
Maintain effective relationships with attorneys, exempt & non-exempt staff, vendors and clients;
The candidate must have effective organizational, communications and interpersonal skills, must be an excellent problem-solver and team player, and must work effectively with other motivated professionals in a fast-paced environment;
Ability to identify and analyze complex issues and work as needed to accomplish the essential duties and responsibilities of the position;
Comfort and skill in using a hands-on approach in situations where tasks and analyses cannot be delegated; and
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation in a constantly changing environment under tight time constraints.
The projected annual salary range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000. Actual compensation will depend on various factors, including relevant skills and experience. Salary is one piece of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s total compensation package, which may also include firm-sponsored benefits and bonuses. This position will be based in the Walnut Creek office with a flexible hybrid work schedule, requiring a minimum of three days in the office per week.
