Purpose:
The Marketing Manager of Congresses/Operations for Oncology Franchise Marketing will be a key member of the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing all Oncology Franchise Congresses and Operations for the team based on brands' strategic requirements, key customer experience insights, and best practices knowledge inside and outside the industry. This person is responsible for strategic development and flawless execution of promotional tactics involving Congresses. This role works in close collaboration with brand teams, sales force, other members of the team, vendors, and a variety of internal partners across functions including, commercial operations, IT, regulatory, legal, compliance, and medical affairs. Serves as primary Oncology Franchise marketing contact with Global team including communications to support and enhance the strategy and execution of US Oncology Franchise congresses
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Lead strategic and tactical development of US Congress execution to ensure strong engagement with key customers and drive Astellas Oncology as a trusted partner for scientific societies such as ASCO. Continually seek opportunities to innovate and bring ideas to realization. Measure effectiveness on an ongoing basis and recommend & implement changes accordingly
Drive efficient process for communications including collaborating closely with the sales field team to enhance local congress and events, creation of field direction memos, production of relevant Oncology Franchise Brand materials, and creation/deployment of digital tools for increased engagement such as digital booth presence, virtual interactions, and collaboration with meeting organizations on cross brands events.
Serves as the US Oncology Marketing primary partner with the Global Events Team and engage proactively with Global and US Brand Teams to plan effective tactical execution of assigned responsibilities for Oncology Franchise Marketing.
Ensure that all relevant Astellas Oncology Brand materials and programs are highly effective and compliant by owning projects through the Medical, Legal and Regulatory review process. Seeks areas for process improvement
Lead the preparation and presentation of pre and post-conference presentations
Support Senior Leadership with agendas, logistics, and schedules for Executive Encounters with KEE at National Conference.
Act as a liaison for the Scientific Associations, manage congress sponsorship and membership with key Scientific Societies such as ASCO, ASH, HOPA, etc.
Manage outside agencies in tactical planning, project estimate development, time management, budgeting, and execution of projects
Contribute to the annual Oncology Franchise Brand tactical plan for conventions.
Complete work in an ethical and compliant manner.
Quantitative Dimensions:
This position will directly impact both the strategic and tactical direction of the Oncology Franchise by identifying and leverage sponsorship opportunities, deploy compelling commercial booths and tools that ensure SoV and ROI of Astellas Oncology and the brands, at national and local congresses. It will also directly impact the A&P budget based on the efficient use of resources including management of vendors, negotiation for services both internally and externally and monitoring of budget effectiveness. It will also indirectly contribute to the oncology brand sales by collaborating across brands to share and leverage best practices across Astellas, provide strategic recommendation to the brands, and bring industry best practices.
Organizational Context:
The Marketing Manager of Congresses/Operations will need to fully develop working relationships with our internal colleagues from other departments including Global teams. This role requires high levels of collaboration for success and will need to be consistently demonstrated through the sharing of ideas that leads to creative tactics and implementation of solutions. This position requires a highly motivated, self-starter with outstanding communication, leading without authority and relationship building skills. This position reports to the Director, Oncology Franchise Marketing. This position does not have any direct reports
Requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree
7 years of related, relevant experience (i.e., marketing, sales, sales training, market research, etc.)
US Pharma industry experience
Strong project management skills with the ability to proactively manage competing priorities
Strong written communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to influence without direct authority
Ability to present and discuss complex issues to higher-level management
Demonstrated ability to be a consistent high-level contributor to multiple projects
Experience owning projects through the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory review process
Ability to travel up to 35%
Preferred:
MBA degree or other related graduate-level degree
Oncology or experience in a specialty field
Pharmaceutical sales experience
