EmploymentScape Chief Executive Officer, Harrison Barnes discusses the importance of controlling your anger and not allowing hurt and vengeance to get the better of you.
A lot of people, who believe that they have been wronged, tend to lash out at the world as a reaction to the hurt caused. They adopt a vengeful attitude towards the world at large. For instance, if a person has been fired by an employer, he or she would tend to take out the hurt and anger at the next employer. However misplaced, this is invariably true. What people are actually doing is trying to even the score. Harrison believes that carrying anger and vengeance with us can be extremely harmful to both our careers and lives.
According to Harrison, all thoughts we carry bring happiness, sadness, love, hatred etc. There is no such thing as a neutral thought. You need to learn to control your mind by steering your thoughts in a positive direction. The more you control your thoughts, the better you do in life. Pushing your mind in a negative direction based on vengeance and anger does no good.
While incidents like losing a job, being betrayed, etc are all horrible things, the worst thing you can do is to allow these to occupy your mind. What you need to focus on is allowing the pain and hurt to flow through you so you can move on in life.
