Shell Energy Philippines (SEPH) is a new business, focused initially on developing a Shell Energy presence in the contestable power market, commercial & industrial (C&I) segments, in the country. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in launching the business and setting it up for long-term success. As with most start-ups, this will involve a great degree of cross-functional work and the need to support other team members as the business scales. The business is expected to grow with the market as the Philippine power market progresses with increased market liberalization, development of power trading platforms, and rising interests for renewable energy to support the country’s energy needs.
With the increasing implementation of Retail Competition Open Access (RCOA), more customer segments with lower demand threshold are opening and most anticipated of which is the RCOA implementation in Mindanao.
The Originator Demand spearheads customer mapping and deal making with C&I customers, expected to grow the customer base of SEPH power business. He/ She is responsible from opportunity development to contractual management with an objective for value enhancing and deal extension potential whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory and licensing obligations of Shell Energy Philippines (SEPH) and delivering SEPH’s margin and core foundations in growing its footprint in the power C&I business.
Accountabilities:
Managing and operating customer deals and contracts with the aim to deliver anticipated value and develop add-on deal opportunities, most specially in the entry of WESM Mindanao
Providing continuous feedback on deal and contractual value enhancement, risk and operational effort minimization potential for application in re-negotiations or future deals, working together with the supply originator
Work together with the entire origination team in developing robust and relevant customer CVPs through continuous scanning of competitive, industry and regulatory developments in the Philippines with the aim to growth the demand portfolio and co-manage overall risk portfolio.
Regularly engaging with peers and experts in Shell Energy drawing learnings from other markets and New Energies on Shell value integration opportunities
Skills and Requirements:
The Originator will be a highly external facing role with responsibility for establishing new relationships and maintaining existing relationships with customers.
This role is expected to lead customer deals in Visayas and manage the business entry in Mindanao, hence will be based in key area in one of the regions. He/ She must be able to speak the main native/ local dialect in the Visayas and Mindanao regions
Minimum of 8 years in related field
Substantial years of professional experience sales in the Philippine electricity market and / or deal making with a strong interest in electricity and ability to learn quickly.
A good understanding of the structure of the Philippines energy market, its liberalization trajectory to date and anticipated market mechanisms. This includes RCOA market landscape and its implementation towards further liberalization.
Demonstrated ability to close deals considering economics and stakeholder insights; Proof points of effectiveness in external account, contract and issue management.
Strong interpersonal skills, natural communicator and builder of trusted relations
Good team player with demonstrated ability to progress work collaboratively as well as individually
Given the start-up nature of SEPH, the following skills are considered:
Willingness and ability to sustainably work against challenging targets in what can be a continuously changing external environment and in which deals under development will be ‘firsts’ (at least for SEPH).
Natural interest in understanding the detailed end-to-end trading value chain and deal operationalization, including for activities we have yet to engage in or which change as a consequence of regulatory change.
