POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Vice President of Sales is responsible for developing and maximizing the businesses in all chosen channels of distribution. Direct responsibilities include strategic planning, all sales analysis, account relationships, leadership of the sales team in addition to consulting in product development, line planning, and assortment planning, in order to consistently deliver net sales and profit expectations. Direct the selling efforts of the division to drive sales and profit in chains, mass and department/specialty channels with a focus on e-commerce. He or she will be responsible for consulting in retail planning and demand planning as well.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Develop strategic customer relationships to drive market share, revenue and EBIT growth
  • Lead, coach and counsel sales team - implement learning plans, engagement and succession strategies
  • Continual evaluation of resources to insure we have balance against revenue and profit
  • Be a key voice on the leadership team in developing and executing growth strategies across all functional areas
  • Develop and implement sales plans by account to achieve successful selling-in.
  • Participate in product development to keep designers updated on current sales trends within stores.
  • Seek out opportunities to maximize use of inventory to achieve the most profitability.
  • Participate in training and development of sales organization to ensure that the sales team understands and learns what is required to achieve expectations of the division.
  • Works closely with merchandisers to ensure best placement and visuals for products.
  • Develop functional co-op advertising plan that best utilizes advertising contribution and allocate funds in the most effective manner.
  • Work with financial analyst to forecast and analyze sales results by customer to determine proper inventory flow to achieve successful turn on product by customer.
  • Analyze sales results by retailer to determine opportunities or necessary adjustments with in sales plans.
  • Help to develop 3 year strategic plans by brand and account
  • Analyze seasonal results and adjust strategic and annual plans.
  • Monitor travel and expenses for the Sales team to ensure budget targets are not exceeded
  • Develop and maintain sound working relationships with all division customers.

Direct:             Directors of Sales and Account Executives

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Revenue and margin plans for key customers

Cost receipt targets - monthly, quarterly, seasonally and annual

Co-op budget - Assist in planning marketing spend by account

Help to manage VA budget along with retail planning

DECISION MAKING:

Day-to-day decision making on how to manage accounts

RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY:

Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines

Partner with Internal and External contacts to drive the business 

Create procedures to improve operation efficiency

Detail oriented/innovative traits necessary

Flexibility to adapt to changing trends of business and projects

Focus on career development of Account Executives

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:   

  • 15-20 years related wholesale/ sales experience
  • leadership experience managing a wholesale sales team
  • Department store account management experience - Nordstrom, Target, Main-line and Mass accounts preferred

        

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent      

                                   

Skills:

  • Prior experience in leading and managing a Sales team
  • High level of analytical skills, problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Possess high taste level
  • Excellent written / verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Flexibility with schedule for Market Calendar and Special Projects
  • Flexibility to Travel
  • Knowledge of  fabrics as well as garment construction including bras is a plus
  • Wholesale selling experience with Better Dept stores, Mid-Tier and Mass accounts
