Job Title:
Business Development Manager - HVO
No. of Positions:
1
Job Description:
The Royal Dutch Shell Downstream and New Energies businesses are looking at a number of new technologies and value chains that will enable Shell to thrive through the energy transition. Using waste oils and fats, and converting them to blendable fuel components via hydrotreating technology, is one promising route to supply low carbon fuels through the 2020’s.
An opportunity exists to join Shell’s new Mid-Term Renewables Optimization team in a new business development position. The team is part of Shell’s European trading and supply business, and works closely with Shell biodiesel trading, New Energies and Projects & Technologies teams to develop a variety of 3rd party and inhouse HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) opportunities in Europe, with a specific focus on developing feedstock supply strategies that enable maximum value generation in our end-to-end value chains.
The Business Development Manager will work on the integrated project teams with a specific focus to:
Support the development of HVO projects through knowledge on HVO asset deployment, feedstock supply chains, feedstock specifications, logistics, blending and storage requirements
Work with the technology team to develop integrated optimization strategies, and articulating how feedstock quality impacts plant performance and end-to-end margin.
Develop and execute pre-treatment strategies (both in house and 3rd party) to ensure efficient end-to-end operation of the integrated value chain
Supports the team with an understanding of EU and North American regulations, sustainability issues, and pricing impacts.
Accountabilities
Scope out and develop long term structural opportunities for feedstock supply in coordination with Shell feedstock traders, with a particular focus on sustainable low carbon feedstocks for supply to HVO assets.
Support the development of optimized in-house and/or 3rd party opportunities, working closely with technology teams to optimize across the asset design/feedstock supply interface.
Develop logistics supply chains for feedstock supply
Support HVO projects with knowledge and experience of regulations, sustainability criteria, competitive landscape, and pricing issues in coordination with the Regulatory Compliance Lead
Work closely with trading colleagues to understand the details of European and US regulations, the impact on supply and demand balances, and develop strategies for optimal supply.
Work with the Biofuel trading desks to optimize the product slate of in-house and/or 3rd party assets, in order to generate maximum end to end margin.
