We’re seeking skilled commercial professionals with B2B sales experience, and a keen sustainability and commercial mindset, to work in a dynamic and exciting business, with the opportunity to make a real difference to our performance.

As Sales Manager, you’re going to be a vital part of our Chemicals business, which produces a wide range of products for use in a variety of applications like bedding, furniture, paints, coatings and sealants, servicing customers through direct and indirect channels.

Operating across 40 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa, the business has an important aim: to produce products for our customers that impact everyday lives, whilst upgrading Shell molecules and driving high performance across the business. Customers’ needs in chemical value chains are rapidly changing especially with respect to sustainability as well as the competitive landscape. Shell is a leader in the energy transition globally and Chemicals play a vital role in supporting through producing lighter, more efficient and greener products and solutions for and with our customers as we progress bio-based and circular solutions for the Chemical industry.

What’s the role?

You’ll sit within our Propylene, Propoylene Oxide and Polyols sales team, working with an ever-changing, dynamic market where you can expect no day to be the same. Selling and implementing sustainable solutions together with our customers is a key part of the role. As our go-to expert for a variety of customer applications, you’ll help manage and grow a portfolio of customers for existing and green products that will ultimately drive business and product strategy.

Much will depend on your ability to react quickly to internal and external challenges and opportunities, confidently juggling priorities and targets, and being able to understand vast amounts of data and market intelligence.

Naturally, you’ll relish the chance to develop key accounts, with an emphasis on quality account planning and effective business reviews. Making those timely decisions that ensure we keep adding value to our customers, manufacturing assets and hydrocarbon value chains.

Other key challenges will include


Contract negotiations and execution
Developing winning account plans and harvesting the best deals.
Developing and implementing commercial tactics in line with business strategy
Nurturing a strong pipeline of sales opportunities in target markets.
Driving market understanding to summarise the opportunities and threats and develop specific tactics to respond to those.


Strong communication skills are also going to be essential to this role as you confidently form long-lasting relationships with internal key stakeholders within Marketing, Operations, Manufacturing & Technology and customer service teams.

What we need from you

Alongside your proven experience within B2B commercial delivery in Chemicals or another relevant B2B environment, we’re keen to talk to women and men with as many of the following as possible on your CV:


Significant experience in B2B marketing and/or sales self-starter, hunter, deal maker Strong negotiation and influencing skills
Proven strong analytical skills, financial acumen and excellent communication skills.
Expertise in negotiating (complex) deals with large, global and direct key accounts.
Experience using and leading Sales tools and processes.
Fluency in additional languages (especially French and/or German).
Continuous Improvement (LEAN) experience and/or Marketing experience will be beneficial.
