Key aspects for this position are selling, tasting, presenting & brand-building the DAOU portfolio of wines to existing customers, developing new customers, key accounts, & collaborating with our distributor sales personnel. The Business Development Manager, South Florida is accountable for a sustainable record of sales achievements, expectation & goals, complete with a broad knowledge of DAOUs wines, philosophy, and policies, while versed in the competitive landscape.
Position Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Management
Work on the street in your assigned market a minimum of 4 days per week to include evenings & weekends conducting account calls independently in all premise accounts, in conjunction w/distributor sales staff or Division Manager direction.
Conduct regular calls on the top accounts in the region to ensure sales execution, corporate mandates, pricing and brand integrity, to ensure brand building initiatives are implemented.
Responsible for meeting or exceeding DAOUs one premise sales objectives including national account compliance, execution of marketing programs, off and on-premise channel mix, POD growth, and maintaining DAOU brand standards.
Conduct staff trainings and establish a precise follow up plan for new placements, education and pull through.
Participate in the team thank you account messaging within the designated region.
Participate in trade, consumer, distributor tastings, to include Zoom, WebEx, live events, tastings, and wine dinners in key, new and existing accounts.
Work as a team to implement monthly plans, goals, quotas and new item roll outs in each market.
Participate in regular meetings with fellow BDMs and key account reps in distributor network.
Monitor out of stock items and report to Division Manager.
Responsible for conducting a minimum of 10 off premise retail accounts surveys per month.
Administration & Analysis
Provide Southeast Division Manager with requested reports including weekly accomplishment/engagement tracker, regional and new account updates with anticipated volume, top 50 account updates, follow behind schedules, sample requests, event set up & follow up details.
Deploy winery resources including DAOUs marketing and hospitality teams and tools, and our web- based VIP sales management portal and DAOUs educational personnel.
Complete by monthly deadline, applicable T & E reporting and submission to Division Manager. All T & E expenditures to not exceed yearly committed to budget.
Requirements
A motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.
An emphasis on new business development, face-to-face and/or zoom meetings, engaging new customers and the ability to close the DAOU sale.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, adapt and respond to change very quickly.
Ability to cold call any account.
Ability to troubleshoot through many and various day to day outside the norm obstacles.
Strong business acumen, keen negotiating skills, and excellent people skills.
Minimum 3 years working for a wine distributor and/or supplier/importer.
Available for company related, evening, weekend, and overnight travel within the territory.
Success Factors/Job Competencies
Must have established working relationships with buyers, owners, principals in region of key account, independent retail, and ALL-premise accounts.
Must reside and be familiar with the sales territory.
Must be familiar with the distributor network in Florida and the applicable laws.
Previous supplier experience is preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Compensation Range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 base salary, depending on experience.
