Job Purpose

The Lube Expert will focus on improving Shell South Africa competitive edge, market share and profit by providing new and existing customers with Specialty Lubricant Products, Service and Support on heavy-duty plant and equipment predominantly in the mining, quarrying, cement and metals processing sectors.

The role is hands-on requiring a sound knowledge and suitable experience in preventative maintenance of critical production equipment and assets. An in-depth knowledge of lubrication system operation and troubleshooting along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential part of the role and service delivery.

Accountability


Compliance with Shell HSSE standards, Safety Plan and all legislative and statutory regulations; acting and behaving according to Shell Global Business Principles, Code of Conduct, Compliance Law
Provide an outstanding level of service to existing customers in all agreed contracted areas of customer interaction
Identify and develop potential growth for specialty product sales at new and existing customers in line with ‘virtual team’ and Industry Lubricants to achieve the margin targets as nominated by Industry Line of Business
Achieve ‘outstanding’ status in operation and fault diagnosis of automatic lubrication systems
Conduct static and dynamic inspections on equipment using specialty products
Provide inspection reports to the customer to SES standards within agreed timelines
Troubleshoot and service centralised automatic lubrication systems
Conduct comprehensive equipment condition and product displacement audits
Review customer maintenance activities and advise on improvements
Coordinate product application monitoring and performance programmes
Basic understanding of equipment failure modes and diagnosis to provide advice to customers
Conduct oil sampling as required and provide detailed interpretation analysis to customers
Deliver training programs to maintenance personnel and machine operators on customer sites
Work effectively in virtual teams with regional Sales and FLTS personnel to satisfy business and customer needs

Requirements:


Minimum national qualification of N3. Candidates with N6 or Engineering degree will have an advantage if they are having the required skill and experience.
Relevant maintenance experience is a key requirement, which will include mills/kilns and hydraulic excavators, and ideally, mining industry fixed plant in general
Previous experience in a similar sales support role would be well regarded, but the main need is for experience in a role which requires a strong customer service approach
Mining lubricants experience, supported by a sound understanding of the various techniques related to the condition monitoring approach to equipment maintenance will be well regarded
A sound knowledge of lubrication systems will be highly regarded. This will include fault diagnosis and installation of new systems
Open, although it is expected that the successful candidate will have completed an appropriate trade apprenticeship as a minimum qualification. Further industry and equipment related training would be well regarded
A sound level of computer skills - MS Word and Excel are required
Good English skill level
