Position Summary:
As a contributing team member of the Commercial Chain Accounts team, the Sales Account Executive will report directly to a Director of Sales (DOS) . The position will have regular interactions with the DOS and other sales account executives and sales managers and will be focused on managing base business and cultivating growth with a group of assigned CCA customers. The Sales Account Executive will be accountable for building strong customer relationships, protecting base business/share, identifying white space opportunities, selling in new items, negotiating contracts and prioritizing efforts to meet our annual operating plan. This position is expected to work cross functionally with various business units and trade teams to build new business, protect the core and create competitive advantages, while attaining mix and volume targets within value-added product categories.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and nurture professional relationships with assigned CCA accounts within the market to achieve business objectives. Gather and maintain key insight for all assigned accounts including: size of business, product opportunities, competitive set, timing of opportunities/RPFs/contracted businesses, and potential hurdles. Track progress using the tools provided, including CRM and reporting status of opportunities and risks appropriately for cross functional teams. Work with Channel Development, Customer Development and Planning, Innovation teams, Business Units, Revenue Management teams and other key cross functional stakeholders to deliver against sales plans through key activities such as RFPs and contract negotiations, innovation, leadership in customer presentations/events/shows/conferences, marketing development program (MDF) management, expense management, complaint resolution and deduction resolution.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 6 years sales/sales support experience with an emphasis on Customer Relationship Management experience; experience in Food Service, Food Service Manufacturing, Distributor Sales or related industry
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written and verbal communication skills
Special Skills: Strategic thinking, negotiation skills, presentation skills, customer relationship management skills
Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office suite
Travel: 20 trips per year
