Company Description:
Shell’s Downstream business makes, moves, trades and sells petroleum-based products for domestic, industrial and transport use all over the world. Those products include gasoline, diesel, heating oil, aviation fuel, marine fuel, lubricants, bitumen and sulphur.
Downstream is on a mission to be the best business of its class in the world and, by achieving this, to help make Shell the undisputed number one energy company on the planet. Success will come by understanding what our customers need, not only now but in the future.
Global Commercial sits within Downstream and consists of a number of B2B businesses: Lubricants (supply chain and sales & marketing), Aviation, Marine, Specialities and Customer Operations. We are the world’s biggest Lubricants business operating in over 130 countries and in every sector, blending over 5 billion litres of lubricant every year; the largest international marketer of Bitumen; and we refuel a plane somewhere in the world every 14 seconds! Our scale and contribution to Shell and the world is massive. We’ve become a vital and resilient cash engine for Shell. And we are set to do even more; with exciting ambitions and an accelerated growth agenda, looking to double the size of our business by 2030. We’re also setting challenging targets around carbon omissions, new business models and digital services.
IT is of vital importance to the Global Commercial growth aspirations: leveraging information technology to provide a digital backbone for the supply chain to increase production efficiency & flow; providing more and more digital services and new business models to our customers that complement our physical products. Never has there been a more exciting time to be an IT professional within Global Commercial.
