Job Description:
Shell Chemical is returning to the Polyethylene business, and this role is an opportunity to become a part of the team focused on building a world class global business and organization. The Pennsylvania Chemicals Project is the first Shell polyethylene project to move into execution and is an ethane-based petrochemical complex consisting of a world-scale Ethylene Cracker (ECU), three polyethylene (PE) lines, PE logistics and supporting OSBL (utilities, general facilities, storage, and hydrocarbon logistics).
This position is critical to the mission of team and provides opportunity for future growth into polyethylene business leadership roles, and this will promise to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This role will be based in the New England sales Territory encompassing Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. with the successful candidate being home-based.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with PE customers at multiple organizational levels
Solicit PE sales monthly within assigned territory, overseeing the end to end customer experience from forecasting, order entry, pricing, contracting, delivery, credit, product quality, etc. while maximizing value to the Shell PE Business Unit.
Travel to visit with accounts F2F required often and regularly.
Develop new opportunities with customers utilizing cross functional support teams within Shell PE (Technical Service, Logistics, Customer Service, Commercial).
Exhibit behaviors of external focus, commercial mindset, delivery, and speed resulting in improved customer satisfaction.
Take growth as a top priority and spend significant time hunting new, as well as managing existing, accounts.
Proactively read the customer and market segments and implement responses to competitor activity and market changes.
Make joint visits to customers and prospects with more senior team members to take advantage of coaching for further development.
Use of price management systems, forecasting tools, and order process systems that provide a high level of customer service.
Monitor key competitors and understand their strengths and weaknesses in to maximize sales opportunities.
Contribute to the planning and development of the commercial business by providing recommendations and market intelligence on customers, competitors, market trends, etc. to the commercial management team.
Skills and Requirements
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree; in Engineering or Chemistry is helpful, but relevant industry experience is more critical.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in Polyethylene or Polymer sales and/or customer facing roles a plus Deep knowledge of PE products, market segments, pricing differentials, market trends is required.
Previous customer facing experience required
Any Polymer Manufacturing or Technical Service experience would be an asset
Knowledge of various Polyethylene end-use market segments would be a plus
Strong Health Safety Environmental orientation required
Ability to take advantage of coaching from senior team members
Strong Negotiation and influencing skills will be required
Experience with cross functional teams in resolving complex issues that improve customer satisfaction levels is helpful
Demonstrable track record of delivering high quality results
Financial acumen and excellent analytic skills
Displays decisiveness and courage when faced with ambiguity and tough choices
