Purpose of role:
The role of the Operations Manager is to drive non fuels retail operational excellence in line with Shell’s convenience retail growth strategy and lead the Shell Global convenience retail brand standards and food safety standards in our retail site network. The role includes enforcing compliance and adherence to the Franchise standards of the business as well as supporting retailers, the Sales & Operations team, in market training and execution of all shop formats in within the retail network.
The Operations Manager manages the national execution of all promotions and marketing initiatives through an external service provider thus supporting the Category management team.
The role requires a strong understanding of retail data analytics in order to develop relevant insights to our category management team to address pain points before they become detractors in store. The role interfaces with many internal functions across Fuels, Brand & Engineering.
The Operations Manager is required to coach and train retail Site staff on a continuous basis.
Key Accountability:
Deliver Operational Excellence, compliance and Franchise standards in all stores nationally
Execute formats, merchandising and layouts, implement planograms
Execute all promotions in line with the Category plan through in-depth category analysis and range review
Coach and train the service providers in terms of execution at site level
Manage Performance Improvement Plans in underperforming retail sites
Review programmes which will enhance site staff performance
Manage Supply Chain compliance on site
Manage the national external Sales force
Conduct training for Territory Managers related to Convenience Retailing and Food Safety

Experience
Degree or Diploma in Sales, Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration or Operations Management
Passion for Retail and coaching
Operational Sales Experience with special emphasis on Retail and Food
Sales and Operation Excellence Experience
Experience in leading change would be an advantage
