What's the role?

The Key Account Manager (KAM) role is sales assignment that is responsible for acquiring new Shell Fleet Solutions customers. Targeted fleets range in size from 200 to 1000 vehicles, within a wide range of industries (i.e., construction, telecom, delivery, services). We are seeking a true prospecting and selling professional – an enthusiastic, proactive, self-starter, with a demonstrated track record and passion for prospecting and selling.

The role also includes new opportunities in the Mobility Services space. Shell Fleet Solutions currently offers Shell Tap Up, Shell Fleet Maintenance Hub and Shell Telematics. These services are the initial Mobility Solutions offerings in the US and the sales team will play a key role in driving new business growth. You will also help customers achieve their environmental sustainability goals with new EV charging and carbon offset services.

Good performance includes winning new accounts, building a robust pipeline of prospects, demonstrated teamwork, and a clear drive to win. This is an exciting and fast paced selling role that requires solid time management, a self-starting and entrepreneurial mindset, and provides excellent commercial competency growth. This role is an essential part of the US Fleet Solutions accelerated growth team.

Dimensions:

Geography includes the Mountain and Northwestern US states of Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. Role requires domicile within geography, and strong preference to be located near major airport (i.e. Denver, Seattle, Salt Lake City, etc..).

The role includes a company car and T&E budget. Travel varies by time of year and business needs, but in general is 25% - 50%.

This is a true selling/hunting role that requires significant prospecting, approaching, negotiating and closing new business fleet customers within given geography. In addition, they work closely with a key account manager to identify, develop and land larger fleets. Primary activities in the sales cycle include: IDENTIFY, RESEARCH, CONTACT, NEGOTIATE and CLOSE medium and large fleets.

Development Opportunities:


Cultivate true partnerships with customers based on a clear understanding of Shell’s Fleet Solutions’ range of CVPs, and fully understand customer needs to deliver maximum value for both Shell and the customer
Carry out financial negotiations with customers, preparing quotations and proposals and reach agreement on all operational requirements (including: price, contract, payment terms and services)
There are numerous opportunities for professional growth in this role including, but not limited to, commercial acumen, deal making, stakeholder management, strategic planning, and business development.


What we need from you?

We are seeking a high energy individual that adapts quickly to a changing environment and performs well in the face of adversity. The successful candidate must have exceptional prospecting and time management skills with both a strategic and tactical mindset in developing and managing a large territory portfolio.


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelors’ Degree in a business-related field (required).
At least three (3) years of new customer prospecting and selling experience required
Large Market Fleet Card sales experience (desired).
Plan for, monitor and exceed individual sales targets.
Strong technical fluency with Microsoft Office and CRM programs (Salesforce).
Strong interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to manage relationships at all levels
Safety mindset: proactive contribution to the HSSE journey, including leveraging Shell leadership in HSSE for commercial advantage.
Consistently apply Sales 1st standards to demonstrate best-in-class structure for call plans, calendar management, account plans and use of CRM tools to maximize prospecting effectiveness (100 prospecting calls per week) and customer facing time (6 visits per week)
