A Director of Sales manages the hotel sales and marketing plans by recommending growth efforts, monitoring progress, and ensuring that the hotel is competitively positioned within the local marketplace.

What will I be doing?

As Director of Sales, you are responsible for working closely with the Senior Management Team to drive business needs and expand existing business through promotional efforts and sales channels. A Director of Sales will work to develop the sales group and groom a high-performing sales team. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:


Leading efforts to increase sales, revenue, reservations, and group and events through the development of new and the expansion of existing business. The Director of Sales will train, coach, and continuously support the Sales team to help them maximise Commercial Performance.
Evaluate accurately hotel market mix and revenue forecasts.
Review and analyse, in a proactive manner, rate & inventory management and strategy effectiveness.
Lead effective efforts to coordinate strategies for group sales and to optimize conversion.
Provide guidance for local marketing initiatives.
Communicate Revenue Management Standards and best practice.
Develops short, medium and long-term strategies for hotels through the “Commercial Focus” matrix and provide consultative support to other commercial support functions.
Make recommendations to take full advantage of revenue opportunities.
Integrate a team of new team members and train them to understand key selling strategies and revenue management, including new tools, Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) tracking.
Recruiting, manage, train and develop the Business Development team.
Coach and develop the hotel-based Sales, through objectives setting, personal development and succession plans.
Prepare, analyze and write reports to outline business progress and opportunities.
Assist with the account diagnostics process and validate conclusions for negotiated business and on-line sales strategies.
Evaluate market demand by utilizing available reports --- both internal and external, including market share, market conditions, competitive pricing
Generate periodic updates on transient booking patterns.

Ability to work well under time pressure and/or demanding travel schedules
Demonstrated previous experience in a Sales role with the proven ability to close a sale


It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:


Knowledge of the local market
Knowledge of hospitality industry
A passion for sales and target-based performance
Relevant degree, in sales, business development or other relevant business field, from an academic institution
