The Strategic Account Manager plays the central role in implementing the UK&I Medtronic strategy in targeted strategic accounts. Working with the strategic account teams and Operating Unit managers across Medtronic, the Strategic Account Manager (SAM) will be responsible for proactively developing business solutions that are customer centric with proven clinical, economic and customer value.
This person will take the lead in further developing key clinical, operational and C-suite executive relationships in defined strategic accounts, as aligned to UK&I pan-Medtronic account segmentation. The SAM will tailor the Medtronic value proposition to individual account strategies and key priorities, seeking to form trusted long term partnership solutions, leveraging the full extent of Medtronics world leading devices, services and solutions.
The SAM requires strong communication & interpersonal skills, along with a demonstrated ability to build lasting and trusted relationships at executive level, experience of leading and coordinating multidisciplinary teams and experience in the management and delivery of key client facing projects.
**The SAM will:**
Build attractive business cases and propositions matching customer needs with available service portfolio, which are resonating in the market and relevant for all internal and external stakeholders.
Take ownership on developing and executing account specific commercial action plans targeted at successfully selling transformational commercial partnerships.
Act as an ambassador and accelerator within Medtronic to create excitement, interest and tangible demand for customer oriented long-term partnership models.
**A Day in the Life**
Deliver with decision-power the profit and loss on account level for the targeted strategic accounts (responsible for the prioritization of resources and Operating Unit service offerings)
Analyse data, write and maintain account acceleration plans and prepare progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
Responsibility for driving incremental share and profitable growth to achieve AOP and add value/improved outcomes to clients
Work creatively with customer executive teams to generate, develop and implement key customer plans, whilst leveraging Medtronic resources to meet customer needs
Develop innovative, appropriate service programs with our customer executive teams that create real value and positions Medtronic as a true long-term strategic partner
Work in conjunction with Operating Units and lead the development and communication of the Medtronic strategy to increase revenue and share in strategic accounts.
Conduct quarterly business reviews internally and externally with both OU leaders and Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) whilst developing the same approach with our customers teams from our Strategic accounts
Collaborate with the Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) organization, to support the development and deployment of their marketing leading solutions
Create and lead teams both within Medtronic and in the customers organization that collaborates to discover the long-term strategic goals within the account
This position places a very strong emphasis on project management, leveraging influence management skills, and leading teams at the customer level
Build ethical and productive business relationships with key stakeholders i.e. commercial/clinical decision makers (C-Suite, procurement, hospital managers, clinical leads etc.)
By aligning the broad product portfolio and value proposition with the hospital goals, the SAM will establish long-term trusted partnerships with customers that benefits both parties over the long term
Act as a strong team player and contributor to share best practices, market insights and competitor intelligence across Medtronic
Help develop Medtronics full understanding of the real benefits of a true Strategic approach to the chosen accounts and drive this program to succeed over time with a win-win outcome for all
Lead, orchestrate & tailor the Medtronic mission and value proposition whilst leveraging the IHS solutions and services
**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**
Business, Science or Medical/Clinical related University
At least 5 years of experience in a commercial / business development role in the medical (device), pharmaceutical or health industry.
Experience in selling large scale strategic transformational partnership programs.
Thorough knowledge of the decision-making process within hospitals (physicians, C-suite, economic buyer) and health systems.
Experience in leading complex negotiations for multi-year agreements.
Strong customer and business focus combined with solid market analysis and strategic thinking.
Ability to develop and foster business relationships with continuously changing stakeholder groups inside key customers organization.
Ability to think strategically, to establish plans, and to execute for results.
Proven sales record and the ability to succeed in both a technical and relationship driven business or equivalent consulting and/or leadership experience in healthcare
In depth knowledge of healthcare environment
Proven ability in problem solving and strategic negotiation
Great passion for selling and winning in a team environment
Knowledge of Medtech, healthcare and competitor landscape and / or strong Strategic and Business Acumen skills
Understanding of P&L and customer financial statements
Excellent communication skills, able to partner and build long lasting relationships with internal colleagues, through influence management, and external stakeholders
**Nice to Have**
MBA or other higher qualification preferred
Experience in Project Management or Consultancy
Sales and people leadership experience or consultative selling experience in medical device, pharmaceuticals or healthcare administration
