You will drive the realization of Shell China business growth aspirations focusing on Downstream and New Energy themes by originating, developing, and executing inorganic growth opportunities via new market entry, new business model, portfolio upgrade and restructuring etc. The China team is tasked to drive flawless strategy execution and capture integrated value acting as integrator across CoBs globally and locally and ensuring Shell engagement with external partners with ‘one face’.
This is an excellent role for individuals seeking opportunities to deliver inorganic growth with a high level of accountability and autonomy. The incumbent will make a measurable contribution to Downstream and New Energies strategy through application of relationship-building, influencing, stakeholder management, project management and negotiation skills. The NBD A&D space is a dynamic environment, where key success factors include personal pro-activity and resilience, strategic thinking, the ability to adapt and learn quickly, to seize and take opportunities, and to retain a creative, and “can do” mindset in the face of challenges and adversity. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing Shell and furthering Shell’s interests with a wide range of third parties and the ability to act with integrity and deliver results in this environment will be critical.
What’s the role?
The NBD Manager’s main responsibilities are to support the NBD General Manager and the team to identify, assess, select, define, and execute new inorganic growth opportunities, which include but not limit to the following:
Develop proactive approach to opportunity origination (OI), including markets study, preliminary due diligence and assessment of deal value and risks.
Prioritize new opportunities and potential targets that fit business and country strategy.
Support Business Opportunity Manager (BOM) in various phases of deal according to ORS.
Ensure due diligence robustness for effective value/risk management, develop detailed business cases, prepare approval documentations, while ensuring strategic alignment and optimal use of scarce resources (capital and people).
Support negotiations on contractual terms to deliver optimal value.
Manage implementation / integration phase for proper hand-over to business.
Support the management of relationship with external stakeholders (partners, industrial associations, government, etc.) for successful deal origination and delivery.
Ensure interfaces with line of businesses and functions (i.e. Strategy, Finance, Legal, HR, etc.) are engaged appropriately during various project phases for end-to-end value delivery and robust risk management.
Coordinate ad hoc team matters, including various project tracking, internal reports, plan external meetings and conferences, organize team learnings, etc.

To succeed in this role, you will have the following:
Basics
Authentic and compliance to the General Business Principles
Proficient oral and written English and outstanding skill in business reporting are required.
Commercial sense and business acumen are essential.
Candidate with passion, strategic thinking, problem-solving, team spirit, responsiveness, self-driven are preferred.
Business Development Skills
Good understanding of digital transformation and way of thinking
Good understanding of business end to end process and procedures
Good acumen for value creation and opportunity identification
Good skill in internal and external relationship management and (senior) internal stakeholder engagement
Basic understanding of M&A process and entry level negotiation skill
Communication skills
Proactive style, collaborative, proactive listening, and skillful convincing.
Learner mindset
Sense of ownership during identifying difficulties, managing conflicts, providing best possible solutions, and aligning steers of multi-stakeholders
