As part of Shell’s Energy Transition ambitions, the Commercial Fuels Team will play a pivotal role in being the most reliable and innovative energy provider and actively contribute to determining our strategy and portfolio for the future.
Where you fit in
Trading & Supply (T&S) acts as an integrator within Shell’s Downstream business to maximize integrated value. The T&S Products business encompasses all activities from lifting products from our refineries, purchasing from and trading with 3rd parties, to delivering finished products to our customers. One of its key priorities is to enable the Energy Transition by developing Low Carbon Fuels.
Commercial Fuels (CF) DACH within T&S covers the wholesale fuels business with mainly indirect, but also key and strategic direct customers and sells fuels and other energy products to large resellers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. CF has a comprehensive portfolio of main fuels as well as renewable energy products, and is instrumental in developing innovative energy solutions in collaboration with our customers and partners. The future success of CF heavily depends on the CF sales team and its customer portfolio. This team lives sales!
What’s the role?
The purpose of the Sales-Negotiator (SN) is to sell various energy products to a demanding customer portfolio. The SN also contributes to the development of daily spot pricing strategies and interacts with the internal supply organisation, the key account managers as well as marketing teams. The SN is also responsible for managing a number term deals from the operational perspective. The SN brings external insights and opportunities into the organization enabling optimal decision-making in day-to-day operations as well as providing valuable input to strategic projects.
The SN must develop and maintain the highest level of customer relationship and understand multiple relevant market levers of a highly volatile energy market environment. Outstanding team- and communications skills are essential for this role.
Key accountabilities include:
Ensure a high level of customers satisfaction while generating the maximum End-to-End value
Own the commercial accountability for the spot business with a defined customer portfolio in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Manage and steering several demanding term contracts from an operational perspective
Contribute to maximizing Enterprise Integrated Value through:
Bringing meaningful market insights into the optimization process
Generating opportunities based on the knowledge of the Shell system and matching those to local or regional market trends
Participate and represent sales in business development activities as well as various projects focussing on digitalization and new energies.
What we need from you
For this challenging role we are interested to hear from individuals who put their heart and soul into sales. You have excellent communication skills and the ability to successfully manage internal and external interfaces. You will need to demonstrate strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, a commercial mindset, and the ability to successfully deal with complexity.
In addition to this you will have:
Deep knowledge of the main fuels market dynamics
Prior work experience in the energy market and account management
Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills.
Highly motivated self-starter- / strong can–do- attitude
Ability to remain calm, especially under pressure
Solid understanding of business risks in the energy sector
Fluent German and English are essential.
