Job Description:

What’s the role?

The main purpose of the role is to drive profitable sales growth and deliver the ambitious business plan that will position Shell Fleet Solutions South Africa as a key significant player in the market. The Sales Team Lead’s (SLT) role will be to manage, coach and develop a team of Account Managers whilst driving the implementation of the strategy, in addition to overseeing the business transformation initiatives encompassed by various projects which will require a great deal of change management.

Accountabilities:

Develop and maximize volume and revenue for new and existing customers in line with Shell Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) and Business policy & principles.

Provide leadership to a team of Account Managers (AM’s) which will include leading, supporting and developing the team to deliver strong performance, enhance their competence and skills to allow them to grow into other key positions in the business.

Support the Business Change and Transformation initiatives in all key growth Projects.

Responsible for a smooth interface with key stakeholders in Marketing, Business Development, Mobility, Customer Operations and Credit. This includes leveraging synergies as well as driving the Fleet Solutions business towards profitable growth, Sales 1st behaviours and end to end (E2E) customer focus.

Utilize new and existing Customer Value Propositions (CVPs) and Sales 1st techniques to achieve financial targets and Sales and Marketing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Maximize time spent coaching and joint prospecting to develop sales team into world class sales professionals.

To assist the formulation and implementation of the Fleet Solutions Strategy and Targets.

Ensure operational excellence and high customer satisfaction.

Key Experiences and Qualifications:

With at least 5 years of Team Lead or Sales Management experience.

Having a B2B experience is ideal but not required.

Experience in Oil and Gas industry is ideal but not required.

Stakeholder management skills - manage a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders at all seniority levels.

Sales and Leadership management, and people skills - these will allow you deliver success through others

Performance driven - you need to be driven to succeed. Your ability to provide support and direction to Account Managers so they can translate that into commercial discussions with customers.

Strong commercial acumen - the ability to review data and generate insights being able to conduct in-depth commercial discussions with business partners to gain commitment for action.

Ability to effectively manage priorities - in any given period you will be involved in many activities and the ability to prioritise, and deliver is key.

Strong negotiating skills - ensuring that negotiations are strong and fair and that the outcome delivers the proper results for Shell.

Coaching experience - the ability to provide coaching to the Account Managers to deliver the business plan and drive for growth.

Delivery: Close what you start. Agility is a plus.

Fleet Solutions domain: Familiarity with fuel cards, mobility services, digital products, and/or the needs of B2B fleet customers will help you hit the ground running.
