Trade shows are big conventions for businesses to sell their products and services not only to regular consumers, but also to other businesses. People with jobs in sales from other companies and retail marketers are always on the look out for the next big selling item.

There are many different shows across the country that attract people in sales careers to look for things to add to their sales jobs; they could either be direct marketing, or could be working for distributing companies that supply to gift shops, specialty stores, and other retail stores.

If you are looking for sales job, you can try walking around the trade shows looking for companies that may hire you. The more experience you have in sales, the easier it will be to launch a sales career in this field. It is a very competitive career choice that can be greatly rewarding, but also very frustrating at times. You constantly have to be on the look out for competitors, and others who may want to 'borrow' your ideas.

One of the biggest tips that will help you if you happen to be set up at one of these shows is look around at other booths, to see what other people in sales jobs are selling or trying to promote. Many people who started out in sales careers such as these have gone on to be on television, promoting products directly to consumers. It is important that if you are seriously interested in job in sales, you watch these people closely for any useful tips and information.

A big mistake that people with direct marketing sales jobs make is that they overlook the presentation. With so many jobs in sales, there is a great deal of competition, especially among businesses that share the same sales careers. In order to make your business to stand out, you have got to be creative with your booth. Snazzy graphics, lights, sounds, are all attractants. Like moths to a flame, the better your space looks, the more customers it will draw in. This is something that you should really think about, and maybe even hire a professional for the presentation.

A really big tip for people with jobs in sales who are set up at these shows is to be friendly. You need to be a people person, and able to start a conversation with a stranger. Look directly at the customers; read their nametags if they have one, and address them by name. Don't start out just trying to get them to buy your stuff; that puts people off. You can say something like this for example; ''Good morning Bill, how has your day been going so far? Have you found anything you like here yet? Can I show you something you are sure to be interested in?''

Another piece of advice for people in sales careers who are in this kind of business is, bring along experienced employees. Someone who is new in sales job often has a really hard time dealing with pressure, disinterested people, or those who are just there to hassle you. If you have a new person, it's okay to bring him/her along, but have the person hang back, filling orders, or handing products to customers. Watch the more experienced people to see how they handle the different situations that come up.
