Unemployment levels seem high these days, but the bottom line is that the people who want to work find jobs wherever they can. The mainstream feels that there are too many people applying for each position, and, in some cases it is very true. But there are many positions that almost no one applies for, so they are filled eventually with candidates who might seem unlikely. If you are looking for a job selling goods and services, then you are much more likely to find a job simply because so many people are too intimidated at the prospect of selling that they disqualify themselves right off the bat.

These selling jobs are actually being given to almost anyone who will be willing to train for them. Many employment seekers are afraid of jobs that involve commission because they feel there is no security in them. However, when you look deeper, you soon find that statistically speaking career salespeople consistently have the highest ranking incomes; many become millionaires.

If you are interested in looking for a job selling for a commission based salary but don't know if you can do it, then start studying what other salespeople do to succeed. Start to understand what is involved in selling. Consider the salesmen who may have worked for previous companies you have worked for and compare salaries.

Selling jobs are basically doing what you do when you recommend a movie, book, restaurant, or type of bowling ball to someone else. You take something that you believe is a great value, product, service, or experience and transfer that passion to another person. If you recommend something to someone and they say, ''No thanks'' to you, does it hurt your feelings? Do you get bummed out and never recommend the ''thing'' to another person? Do you decide that because that person doesn't like it, no one else will, so maybe you were stupid for believing it was great in the first place? NO WAY! You move on in life and tell others about it.

I can't begin to tell you how many cell phone contracts I have sold because I boast about the great deal that I got. Do you know WHY I don't know? I don't know because I'm not getting paid for it. Can you imagine getting paid every time you turn someone on to a product, service, or idea? Selling jobs give you just that opportunity. If you are having a hard time trying to get jobs, start looking for a job selling something that you might already be passionate about. If you can't find one, look for other selling jobs that are open, check out their product, service, or idea, and decide if you can honestly be passionate enough to represent that to other people for a lucrative compensation.

If you are still not sure, go to the bookstore and look at the section on sales training. It is extensive! Look at some of the titles that might address some of the reservations, also known as fears that you have. Grab a cup of coffee and glance through the book right there in the bookstore. If you find a book or two that really grabs your attention, then buy eat, read it, and digest it.

The beautiful thing about most salespeople I have known is that they love to tell you how they do it! The information is out there. The thing you will soon discover is that the secret to success is found in the simple principles of life that you were taught as a young child. They start with respect and end with a fair deal.

If you are not comfortable with outside, commission-based sales, there are plenty of inside selling jobs that are more salary based with bonuses that you can use to get your feet wet, so to speak. More people are willing to take these ''safer'' selling jobs, so there will be more competition. However, because people are still intimidated by the idea of selling, there are still fewer people willing to apply for these positions.

Because most companies want their products represented and sold in a uniform way, there is going to be less of a requirement for previous experience in many cases.

One young man, we will call him Thomas, had never held a job for more than three months. It took him 8 years to get a degree in criminal science because he was frequently failing classes and being placed on academic suspension. He finally graduated and got his dream job with a local police force as a police officer. That lasted two months and resulted in his deciding that it wasn't such a dream job after all. Needing to start paying student loan debt, he applied for a sales job. He had no experience, but he had enough personality to get him through the interview process. He landed that first job and made $84,000 his first year! Was he a dynamic salesman? No. He was just willing to try.

There are many options that you can consider based on your personality type and ambitions. If you do not like direct selling, there are online selling jobs that can net you a significant income. If you want to maintain the security of a regular paycheck, there are part time selling jobs available. The limit is made only by you. Some of the people getting these selling jobs instead of you would be much better at simply because you never got around to applying.

So … GO FOR IT!!
