Building a Better Sales Site

In today's technology age, one of the most important aspects of your sales company is your website. No matter how innovative your physical facility is, your customers will inevitably form a major part of their opinions of you from your website, especially since your website might be their very first impression of you. For this reason, it's important to spend plenty of time developing a site that both expresses who you are and successfully sells your products and/or services.

If you are thinking of hiring someone to create your website, that person will be able to handle all of the technical details while getting feedback and direction from you as to the specifics. However, if you have decided to create your own website, the first things you will need to do are purchase a domain name (or web address), find a host for your domain, and purchase a web-authoring package. This package will allow you to actually create your website.

Some important things to remember when creating the design of your website are that it should look professional and reputable, it should have content of value to your customers, it should be easy to use, it should utilize search engine optimization, and it should have secure online payment options. These characteristics will ensure that your website gets traffic and offers you the highest chances of success.

In addition, it's very important that you have a clear image of your company's website and what you want to gain from the site. There are many things your website can be used for, including promoting your company, selling your product, informing your customers, and educating the public on your service. Once you have decided specifically what you want your website to do, you will be able to create a site that accomplishes that goal and, thus, gets you the results you want.

Also, you need to motivate the person viewing your website to take action. Websites are meant to be clicked through and viewed easily and leisurely. In order for your customers to want to do this, though, you need to organize and display the information and products on your site in a pleasant and structured way. On each page, make it clear and obvious what you would like the viewer to do. If you want him or her to click to the next page, make a button that says "To Continue Reading, Click Here." If you want him or her to download a PDF brochure, make the text clear and easy to understand.

You will also need to know and understand your target market in order to build a successful website. According to Stephanie Frank, founder of the Balanced Wealth Network, in an article on About.com, there are certain questions you should ask yourself when trying to figure out to whom you want to market your website:
  • Are my customers male or female?
  • What level of education do they have?
  • What age group do they fall into?
  • What are their hobbies? Interests?
  • What do they read?
  • Do they have children?
  • What is their level of income?
  • What are their biggest problems?
Last but not least, you need to offer some sort of incentive for which the people viewing your site will have to give you their names and email addresses. Frank suggests offering a coupon or a newsletter. This will allow you to build a database of people who are interested in your products and/or services, which will be a great benefit to you when offering promotions or launching marketing campaigns.

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
