McDonald's has announced that in May its U.S sales increased to their highest level in the last three years. The increase follows the company's Happy Meal promotion for DreamWorks Animation's Shrek the Third. Sales at stores open at least a year have generated about 40% more sales than they did during the same period last year. McDonald's global sales rose 8.7% and U.S. sales rose 7.4% in May. It was the 49th consecutive month the world's largest restaurant chain registered an increase in sales.
EcoSMART appoints national sales manager
EcoSMART Technologies has appointed Guy Russell the national sales director for its commercial division, effective immediately. Russell earlier handled business development for EcoSMART's Southern California operations. He is an executive-management veteran with local and international experience in sales, advertising, and marketing. Before joining EcoSMART, Russell oversaw business development for the Steritech Group in California. His tenure with the Steritech Group helped the company more than double its sales. Russell will also oversee the development of new business in the South, Central, and Midwestern U.S.
ReoStar Energy Corp. announces sale of interest in Tri-County Gas Gathering System
ReoStar Energy Corporation has announced the completion of the sale of its 30% interest in the Tri-County Gas Gathering System to Cimmarron Gathering, LP, for $15 million. The sale will allow ReoStar to concentrate on its Barnett Shale project and will provide it with "capital to acquire additional leasehold in the same area." ReoStar Energy Corporation is headquartered in Fort Worth, TX. It is an oil and gas company that acquires and produces natural gas and oil properties. The company's assets include more than 20,000 acres of mineral leasehold in Texas and Arkansas.
WREG-TV appoints new general sales manger
Local TV, LLC's CBS affiliate WREG-TV has hired Jim Himes as its general sales manager. Himes has spent the last two years helping the ABC affiliate reach its highest level of profitability. Himes has had vast and diverse work experience. He began as an account executive at WTAJ Television and worked for MMT in Los Angeles, CA; WGAL Television in Pennsylvania; and CBS Spot Sales. Himes was formerly in direct competition with WREG as local and national sales manager for the Raycom station across town.
Capel, Inc., hires new sales manager to bolster central region
Rug importer and manufacturer Capel Incorporated of Troy, NC, has appointed Laura Freitag sales manager for its central region, which covers 17 states. Freitag has been associated with Capel as a sales representative for more than seven years and has had 15 years of home-furnishings sales experience. After graduating in 1992, Freitag teamed up with her father at Singer Furniture. She will now manage primary sales responsibilities for major accounts in states like Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. After joining Capel, Freitag increased sales in her area by 600%.
