One of the more popular hybrids is the goldendoodle. A goldendoodle is the offspring of a golden retriever and a poodle—a most marvelous hybrid! Mini goldendoodles have a miniature poodle as a parent. The first-generation cross between two unrelated purebred lines comes out healthier and develops better than the line of either parent.
Goldendoodles are friendly, intelligent, affectionate, and easy to train. According to the photos, a goldendoodle can resemble a shaggy-looking retriever or a poodle with relaxed curls; the coat may come out cream-colored, gold, apricot, chocolate, gray, or black. Mini goldendoodles weigh in at about 25 to 45 pounds, are light-shedding to non-shedding, and can be hypoallergenic.
If you have kids around the house, you might want to consider a puggle. They are very good with children. While puggles are playful, they also have the lapdog quality of the traditional pug. On the downside, they can be a bit slow to train and need more exercise than do other apartment dogs, including the pug.
